National Library of Wales to pay living wage

The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth has announced it will pay the living wage from 1 January, 2015.

It means staff will earn at least £7.65 per hour, which will rise by 20p in April; the national minimum wage is £6.50 per hour.

The living wage is based on the amount an individual needs to earn to cover the basic costs of living.

Chief executive, Aled Gruffydd Jones, said it is "essential" that library staff are paid a competitive salary.
