Two people have been rescued by firefighters in two separate and unrelated house fires within an hour of each other on a Wrexham housing estate.

Three crews were called to a blaze in Cunningham Avenue, Caia Park, at around 1830 BST, where a man was rescued and taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious and investigations continue.

An hour later a man was rescued from a blaze in Trevenna Way and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The causes of the fires are not known. Nor is the condition of the first man.

Both properties had working smoke alarms installed and the two fires are unrelated.

North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are investigating both blazes.
