Wirral woman, 19, dies after car hits tree near Mold

Police are appealing for witnesses after 19-year-old woman died when a car collided with a tree in Flintshire.

The incident, which involved a red Nissan Micra, took place on the A541 at Hendre, near Mold, on Saturday night.

North Wales Police said the woman, a front seat passenger, was from Wirral, Cheshire.

She was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver and the rear passenger sustained minor injuries.

The other two were taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed following the crash, which happened shortly before 2200 BST, and diversions were put in place.

Family liaison officers have been appointed and are supporting the dead woman's family but North Wales Police said they were not yet in a position to name her.

Investigations into the collision are continuing and police are appealing for witnesses to contact Pc Aled Jackson or officers at the eastern roads policing unit on 101 (in Wales), 0845 6071001 (Welsh language line), or 0845 6071002 (English language line).
