Plans to re-develop the site of a former factory with 200 new homes, shops and leisure facilities, are to be discussed by Wrexham council.

Air Products closed its Acrefair site in December 2009, with the loss of 200 jobs, when it moved production of gas plant equipment to China.

The council has been in talks with the company's agent to develop the land.

The plans are for outline approval, which would allow a potential developer to take on the project.

Before its closure, Air Products occupied the site for 50 years.

The application will be discussed by planners on Monday.
