Firefighters have taken almost nine hours to extinguish a blaze on a mountain in Gwynedd.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were first called to the fire at Barmouth at 1245 BST on Sunday.

Six fire engines, two off-road vehicles and more than 40 firefighters were involved in the operation.

Having initially thought it was out, crews were called again after it reignited, but finally left the scene at 2118 BST.

The service attended two other mountain fires on Sunday afternoon in Tan y Bwlch, near Blaenau Ffestiniog.
