Police have confirmed the body found in the sea off Rhosneigr, Anglesey, is that of missing Callum MacKay.

The discovery comes a week after the 22-year-old from Llanfairpwll went missing after he and a friend entered the sea at Cable Bay.

Lewis Darroch, 22, from Valley, died and a search was held for Mr MacKay.

Police believe one of the men went for a swim and when he got into difficulty, the other went in to help him last Wednesday evening, 24 August.

Mr Darroch was recovered from the sea by helicopter but he was pronounced dead on arrival at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. An inquest has been adjourned.

The search was eventually called off before Mr MacKay's body was recovered by the coastguard on Wednesday afternoon.

The north west Wales coroner has opened and adjourned the inquest on Mr Mackay.
