Body found at Llandudno after empty boat discovery off Conwy

A man's body has been found after an extensive air and sea search off Conwy.

Concerns were raised on Saturday for a local man, and a hunt was launched and then called off at 03:30 GMT on Sunday.

The search resumed at first light for the man, who was in a 20ft vessel described as a day boat, and who told coastguards by mobile phone that he was lost.

The body was found on rocks on Llandudno's West Shore beach just after 09:00 GMT.

The Conwy inshore lifeboat had been launched on Saturday and located the boat - which was registered in Deganwy - about a mile north of the shore.

The search involved two lifeboats, coastguard shore teams and the North Wales Police helicopter.
