A female pedestrian in her seventies has been killed and another has been seriously injured after a car hit a shop in north Wales.

North Wales Police say the two unnamed local women were involved in a collision with a blue Jaguar car in Rhos on Sea at about 15:36 BST.

The male car driver, also local, was taken to hospital but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

The promenade has been closed between Cayley Embankment and Penrhyn Road.

Police said the dead woman received fatal injuries and died at the scene and the coroner had been informed.

The second pedestrian was taken by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries.

A total of four appliances from Colwyn Bay, Caernarfon, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno, were sent to the scene.

Emergency vehicles were likely to remain at the scene for several hours, police said.

North Wales Police appealed for witnesses, or anyone with information on the collision, to contact the Roads Policing Unit at St Asaph on 101.
