Eight pupils hurt in minibus crash on the A55 at Old Colwyn

Eight secondary school pupils were taken to hospital after a coach and two minibuses were involved in a crash on the A55 in Conwy.

A coach driver was arrested on suspicion of careless driving after the crash at 12:45 BST on Thursday on the eastbound carriageway at Old Colwyn.

Four students were treated for minor injuries and four had check-ups.

North Wales Police said the two minibuses were carrying year eight students from outside the force area.

Staff at the school have been informed of the collision and parents of the students involved were being informed.

The force said anyone with information is asked to contact the roads policing unit at St Asaph on 101.
