Y Felinheli decision on 54 homes deferred
A proposal to build 54 new homes in the Gwynedd village of Y Felinheli has been deferred by planners.
Gwynedd officers will now meet the developer to discuss affordable homes, a possible contribution to educational provision and phasing the development.
The homes would be on land near the primary school in the village.
The community council was against it as it said the school was already full and housing for elderly people would be preferable.
The application said the homes would vary from a four-bed house to affordable two-bedroomed flats. Twelve would be affordable units to be transferred to a housing association.
A Gwynedd council spokesperson said: "Officers will hold further discussions with the developer in relation to affordable homes to be provided as part of the scheme.
"Clarification is also needed as to whether the development should include a contribution towards educational provisions in the area and to discuss the possibility of phasing the development."
