An RAF helicopter and mountain rescue teams are combing a 3,000ft peak in Snowdonia after a 42-year-old man failed to return from a walk.

The man, understood to be a visitor to north Wales, was last seen on Sunday when he left to climb Tryfan in the Ogwen Valley.

Police were alerted to the disappearance on Wednesday.

The man's family are now travelling to the area as the search continues on the mountain.
