Body found on Glyder Fawr in Ogwen Valley, Snowdonia

North Wales Police say a body has been found on Glyder Fawr in Snowdonia.

Officers were alerted at 13:45 BST on Friday that the discovery had been made on the 1,000m peak in the Ogwen Valley.

No other details of the deceased person have been released, but police said the death is not suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

North Wales Police said inquiries are now ongoing to identify the person found on Glyder Fawr.

The discovery comes after three days of searching in the Ogwen Valley for missing walker Christopher Whitfield, who disappeared on Sunday.

However, police have not said whether the find on Friday is linked to the search for Mr Whitfield.

The 42-year-old from Shropshire was understood to have set out to climb another peak in the area, Tryfan.

His car was later found at a lay-by in the Ogwen Valley, after concerns for his safety were raised on Wednesday.
