An inquest has been opened into the death of a man whose body was found on Snowdon nearly six months after he went missing.

Gerry Coyle, 65, of Norton Leys, Rugby, Warwickshire, was found by walkers on the mountain on 19 April.

Searches were carried out for Mr Coyle who was last seen in the cafe on the summit of Snowdon on 25 October.

An inquest into his death was opened and and adjourned by the North West Wales coroner on Wednesday.

Police had appealed to hear of any sightings of Mr Coyle, who it was believed took the mountain railway to the top of Snowdon after leaving his hotel, although he had originally planned to walk up.
