Resident with binoculars spots capsized canoeist off Anglesey

A capsized canoeist has been rescued after he was spotted clinging to a rock in the sea by a person using binoculars at a house on the shore.

The man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor following the incident off the village of Rhosneigr on Anglesey.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said it was called by the person using binoculars at 13:50 BST and it alerted the RNLI.

In the meantime the man was rescued by another canoeist.

The RNLI lifeboat crew helped treat the man on the shore for the effects of the cold.

The coastguard said he had spent 30 minutes in the water before he was rescued and was semi-conscious by the time he reached the shore.
