Teenager injured by falling tree branch at Plas Newydd
A teenager has been seriously injured by a falling tree branch at a National Trust site on Anglesey.
Amy Brooke, 18, was hit while she was at Plas Newydd at about 16:30 BST on Friday and her family are waiting to hear if she will need specialist care.
She suffered injuries to her lower back and was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd.
A National Trust spokesman said: "We are investigating the incident and will be communicating with relevant safety bodies."
A spokesman for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said Ms Brooke was in a "comfortable" condition.
Ms Brooke, who lives on Anglesey, was walking on marked footpaths in the gardens with her friend Ffion Wynn Davies when a branch snapped off a tree and fell on her.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called shortly before 16:35 to reports that a tree had fallen on a woman at Plas Newydd in Llanfairpwll."
The National Trust said: "Our thoughts and best wishes are with the young woman and her family. We hope for and wish her a full and speedy recovery."
Parts of Plas Newydd have been closed for safety checks.
The Health and Safety Executive said: "We are aware of the incident and we are currently making initial inquiries."
