Armed robbers 'knock at front door' in Sebastopol

Police have made an arrest in connection with an armed robbery in which three masked raiders burst into a property in Torfaen.

A 22-year-old man from the Newport area is being questioned after a gang stole money from occupants at Waterloo Court, Sebastopol, Pontypool.

He has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm.

Police say the incident began when a man answered a knock at the door - and the gang burst in, demanding money.

Handguns

A woman and child were also in the house at the time of the incident on on Friday at 2125 GMT.

The offenders, who escaped with a quantity of money, are described as in their late teens or early twenties.

Their faces were masked by balaclavas. All three men were carrying what was believed to be handguns.

They ran off in the direction of Station Road where they got into a small, light coloured, hatchback-type vehicle which made off towards Cwmbran.

No one was injured during the incident, although the occupants were said to be shaken.
