Rhondda Cynon Taf crash: Three in hospital after collision

Three people have been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision in Rhondda Cynon Taf, say emergency services.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash on the A4059 between Abercynon and Mountain Ash at around 18:00 GMT.

Two people are said to have suffered chest injuries. A third is thought to have been taken ill beforehand.

The road is closed between Quarter Mile Junction and Cardiff Road, Mountain Ash, said police.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Aberdare, Abercynon and Pontypridd were sent to the scene.

Firefighters used spine boards and provided first aid with oxygen therapy before paramedics arrived.

A station manager from Pontypridd was sent to take charge of the incident.
