Arrests after armed raid at GLJ Recycling in Crumlin

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery following an incident at a scrap metal merchant near Caerphilly.

Gwent Police say a 44-year-old male and a 41-year-old female, both from the Caerphilly area, remain in custody.

A "significant" amount of cash was stolen from GLJ Recycling on Penyfan Industrial Estate, Crumlin, on Monday morning.

Two men with shotguns and wearing balaclavas struck at around 08:45 GMT.

One of the men wore a green jacket and is about 5ft 10 inches tall.

The other is slightly shorter, stocky and wore a dirty high visibility jacket.

Police believe the vehicle, a grey Vauxhall Astra, that was used in the incident has been recovered.

Anyone with information should call 101.
