Police appeal after unexplained death in Aberdare

Detectives say the death of a 26-year-old Cynon Valley man whose body was found at home is being treated as unexplained.

Nicky Hughes, of Maesmelyn, Aberdare, was found by South Wales Police officers at about 23:00 BST on Wednesday.

Police say he was safe and well when seen early on Tuesday.

But they are unclear about his movements after this time and are appealing for information.

Det Insp Mark Lewis said: "From our inquiries so far it would appear that Nicky was sighted at around 2.30am on the morning of Tuesday, 8 May and was safe and well.

"From this point on it is unclear what his movements were or who he spoke to.

"I am appealing for information from anyone who may have seen or heard from Nicky during this time."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merthyr Tydfil CID on 01685 724272 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
