Recyclers DS Smith create up to 100 jobs in Caerphilly

A company which makes recycled packaging is to launch a new centre in Caerphilly, creating up to 100 jobs.

DS Smith plc, which has its head office in Berkshire, will centralise its IT, HR and finance operations at the new centre on Caerphilly Business Park.

The project received £436,000 from the Welsh government.

Business Minister Edwina Hart said it would bring "direct and indirect benefits" to local people.

She added: "I am delighted that work is now underway on fitting out the new centre which will bring direct and indirect benefits to the local economy while creating a significant number of new jobs and career opportunities."

The company employs more than 12,000 people, 392 in Wales.

Managing director, Peter McGuinness, said: "Our new shared service centre will mean we can work more efficiently, to ultimately deliver better value and service for our clients, while further embracing our commitment to a sustainable working environment."
