Fire crews rescue man from River Usk in Newport

A man has been taken to hospital after being rescued from the River Usk in Newport.

The alarm was raised in Alderney Street, Crindau, at 14:15 BST, said South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews from Malpas and Duffryn, and a specialist technical rescue team, helped pull the man to safety. His condition is unknown.

The rescue came hours after a woman was rescued from the River Teifi near Cardigan while she was walking her dog.
