Three boys arrested over 20 stolen bikes in Cardiff

Police in Cardiff have seized more than 20 suspected stolen bikes, frames and parts after a raid on a back garden.

Officers were tipped off about the hoard at the house in the Leckwith area.

South Wales Police said three boys aged 14, 15 and 17 were arrested.

Two bikes, stolen from a vehicle at the Cardiff City Stadium on 28 July, were among the items recovered. Officers want potential victims to come forward to help identify the bicycles.

'Rightful owners'

Acting Sgt Gerallt Hughes said: "An increasing number of people are choosing to use bikes to get around the city but unfortunately they are popular targets for thieves particularly when they have been left either insecure or secured with a poor quality lock.

"We appreciate that having your bike stolen is upsetting, expensive and an inconvenience and therefore we would very much like to reunite the bikes found today with their rightful owners.

"There are serial numbers for most bikes therefore if any potential victim could have their serial numbers to hand when they contact us."
