A man has appeared via video link at Cardiff Crown Court accused of the murder of three generations of the same family.

Carl Mills, 28, of no fixed address, is charged with the murder of Kim Buckley, 46, daughter Kayleigh, 17, and six-month-old granddaughter Kimberley.

They died after a fire broke out at their home in Cwmbran, Torfaen, on Tuesday.

Mr Justice Wyn Williams adjourned Monday's proceedings until 17 December.

Mr Mills, who is originally from Manchester, spoke only to say "yes" when asked to confirm his identity via the video link from Swansea prison.

David Thomas, for the Crown Prosecution Service, told the court Mr Mills was facing three counts of murder.

A candlelit vigil in memory of the family was held at the Parish Church of St Gabriel's in Old Cwmbran on Friday.

A book of condolence has also been opened.
