M4 Newport crash carriageway clear after earlier delays

Traffic is running freely again on the M4 westbound in south Wales following a three-car crash during rush hour which caused delays of up to 90 minutes.

The three lanes between junction 26 for Malpas Road and junction 27 for Highcross at Newport were blocked.

Congestion was tailing back as far as Magor services at junction 23.

Traffic Wales said there were also delays of up to 30 minutes on the eastbound carriageway while people slowed to look at the incident.
