Bridgend collision: Pedestrian critically injured

A pedestrian is critically ill in hospital after she was in collision with a car in Bridgend town centre.

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at about 19:30 GMT on Wednesday at Tremains Road, Bridgend, at its junction with Llynfi Street.

It happened when a Renault Megane Scenic was travelling along Tremains Road.

The pedestrian suffered multiple injuries. The driver was uninjured.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 029 20633438 or 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

She was taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, and then transferred to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The road was closed for about four hours while police investigated.
