Cardiff to receive £316m boost after hosting Rugby World Cup
Cardiff will receive an estimated £316m boost when it hosts the Rugby World Cup in 2015, according to a new report.
The Millennium Stadium will host eight games, including two of Wales' pool matches and two quarter finals.
The economic study commissioned by England Rugby 2015 said the tournament could give nearly £1 billion of added value to the UK economy.
Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Roger Lewis welcomed the report and said it puts Cardiff firmly on the map.
He said: "Today's announcement of a potential £316m financial benefit for the local economy throughout the tournament proves what an incredible coup it is for us to be involved."
According to the report, the tournament is expected to attract more international visitors than any previous World Cup, with an estimate of up to 466,000 visits to the UK.
