Body found near golf club at Abercynon

The body of a man has been found on common land near to the Whitehall Golf Club in Abercynon, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The unidentified body was found by a member of the public at 19:00 GMT on Tuesday and South Wales Police are treating the death as unexplained.

Scenes of crime officers are examining the area and a tent has been placed over where the body was found.

The cause of death has not been determined and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

The area is popular with dog walkers and anyone travelling to Whitehall Golf Course, Llechwen Hall Hotel or from Abercynon to Nelson.

Det Supt Paul Hurley, said: "We are in the very early stages of an investigation, and want to hear from anybody who was in the area at all yesterday to give us a call.

"They may have valuable information without even realising it."

Anyone with information is asked to call South Wales Police on 101.
