Man in custody after woman assaulted in Cardiff dies

A woman from Mountain Ash who was found assaulted at a house in Cardiff has died, police have said.

A 66-year-old man who was initially arrested on suspicion of assault remains in custody in Cardiff Bay police station.

South Wales Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the 46-year-old woman's death.

The incident in Drawlings Close, St Mellons, was reported shortly after 09:30 GMT on Saturday.

Officers who attended found the woman injured and arrested a 66-year-old man.

On Sunday, police said the woman had died.

They have asked witnesses to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
