Knife recovered and pupil arrested after Bedwas school attack

A knife was recovered and 15-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at a Caerphilly school.

Another 15-year-old girl suffered a cut on the cheek and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Gwent Police attended Bedwas High School at 11:05 BST on Wednesday following the incident.

The 15-year-old girl is currently in custody as police work with the school to establish the circumstances.

A Caerphilly council spokesman said the incident was dealt with "swiftly" by staff and Gwent Police.

He added: "We would like to assure parents that all appropriate steps were taken to respond effectively to the situation."
