A student has been cleared of a sex attack in Cardiff last autumn after the prosecution offered no evidence.

Khalid Alahmadi, 23, of Bute Terrace, was previously accused of sexually assaulting a young woman in Gorsedd Gardens early on 24 September 2015.

Mr Alahmadi had been due to face a retrial after a jury failed to reach a verdict in March.

However, the prosecution told Recorder of Cardiff Judge Eleri Rees on Tuesday it was dropping the case.

Following the hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, Mr Alahmadi was told he was free to go.
