Newport pedestrian hit by car dies of injuries

A pedestrian hit by a car in Newport six days ago has died of her injuries.

Pamela Lancaster, 47, from the Newport area, had been airlifted to hospital after the incident in Clarence Place, at 13:30 GMT on Thursday.

Her family are being supported by specialist officers.

Gwent Police appealed for anyone with information about the incident, which involved a silver Ford Focus, to contact them.

Her family have said Mrs Lancaster will be "sadly missed".

"We would like to thank the emergency services and all the staff at Cardiff University Hospital critical care unit for all their help and kindness," said the family statement.
