Taff's Well murder probe launched after woman dies

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman who was assaulted in Rhondda Cynon Taff died.

Janice Griffiths, 59, died in hospital after police were called to a house in Taff's Well on Monday.

A 22-year-old man who was arrested remains in a secure mental health unit.

Det Ch Insp Ceri Hughes of South Wales Police thanked the "witnesses who intervened and did all they could" to save Ms Griffiths.

Police said this assault was not connected to reports of a suspicious man on the Taff Trail near Radyr Bridge in Cardiff.
