Woman hit in gritting lorry incident in Cardiff

A woman has been struck in an incident involving a gritting lorry in Cardiff city centre.

She was taken taken to hospital with serious injuries after the collision on the junction of Mill Lane and St Mary Street at about 21:00 GMT on Thursday.

South Wales Police has closed nearby Custom House Street and Bute Street to allow officers to investigate the crash and they are appealing for witnesses.

The Wales Ambulance Service confirmed they took the casualty to hospital.

Police confirmed the incident involved a heavy goods vehicle and a pedestrian but added that "no further information is available at this time".

Cardiff council has been asked to comment.
