Pont Cynon bridge in Pembrokeshire 'closed for weeks'

It will take weeks to repair a bridge on a B road in Pembrokeshire which was badly damaged when struck by a car, the county council says.

Diversions will be in place for at least four weeks while Pont Cynon Bridge on the B4329 near Crosswell in the north of the county is closed.

The county council said repairs would be completed as soon as possible but there would inconvenience to motorists.

The bridge was struck by a car on Wednesday night.

Cabinet councillor for highways Jamie Adams said: "As the structure of the bridge has been compromised we have no alternative but to close it to traffic until repairs have been undertaken.

"Diversions for traffic are in place and are likely to remain for at least four weeks.

"We recognise the inconvenience this will cause but ask road users for their patience and co-operation."
