Jobs losses at Selex Galileo in Aberporth

A defence electronics company has announced 150 job losses affecting some workers in Ceredigion.

Selex Galileo is cutting jobs at three sites in Luton, Basildon and Parc Aberporth. The number of losses at each site is not yet known.

The company blamed "decreasing defence budgets" for the job losses.

It is expected that the 150 jobs will be lost from manufacturing, engineering and support functions.

Managing director Norman Bone said: "This has been a difficult decision.

"However, it was felt necessary to take appropriate action to address some of the difficulties facing our business and to ensure that we maintain an affordable and efficient cost base to remain competitive in the future."
