Kyle Simpkins from Port Talbot died in Swansea collision

A 23-year-old pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on a main road in Swansea has been named as Kyle Simpkins from Cwmavon in Port Talbot.

His family has paid tribute to a much loved father, son and brother.

He died following a collision with a silver Subaru Impreza on Fabian Way near the Village Hotel shortly after 00:40 GMT on Sunday.

The road was closed for 12 hours following the incident while police carried out initial investigations.

Officers have renewed an appeal for anyone who was a witness or can help them establish Mr Simpkins' movements prior to it, to contact them.

In a statement released via South Wales Police his family said: "Kyle was a much loved son, brother, nephew and cousin.

"Kyle had turned his life around when his girlfriend Paige gave birth to their baby son, Riley, and that he had taken to fatherhood better than everyone expected and the change in him was a pleasure to see."

They said Mr Simpkins had played football for many years for Cwmavon Boys Club and he also enjoyed nature and the outdoors.

"Kyle will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him," added his family.
