Sailor rescued clinging to dinghy off Pendine sands

A man has been rescued clinging to his upturned dinghy about three miles off Pendine sands, Carmarthenshire.

Coastguards were called at 11:57 BST on Tuesday after the 40-year-old failed to return from a morning sail race out of Saundersfoot sailing club.

Two RNLI lifeboats from Tenby were launched.

The search also involved Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team, rescue boats from Saundersfoot Sailing Club and a helicopter from RAF Chivenor in Devon.

The man, from Stourbridge, west Midlands, did not require any medical attention.
