Skomer island visitor airlifted to hospital

A woman who was taken ill on Skomer island off the coast of Pembrokeshire has been airlifted to hospital.

The island's warden had raised the alarm with Milford Haven coastguard at 17:30 BST on Sunday after the visitor from London suffered chest pains.

A local doctor was taken to the patient by inshore lifeboat whilst a landing site was set up.

A helicopter from the Royal Naval Air Station in Culdrose, Cornwall, took the woman to Morriston hospital in Swansea.
