Special monitoring of a children's social services department has been lifted after "significant progress".

Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) found Neath Port Talbot council showed "continued improvement".

The announcement was made by CSSIW chief inspector Imelda Richardson on Thursday following an inspection carried out in February.

The department was placed under monitoring in 2012 and was still deemed "fragile" in 2013.
