DJ Carey hospitalised after suspected heart attack
The former Kilkenny hurling player DJ Carey has been taken to hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack.
Irish police said he collapsed in Kilkenny on Tuesday afternoon and was admitted to St Luke's hospital.
His condition is described as stable.
Carey retired from inter-county hurling in 2006, but continued to play for club side Young Irelands of Gowran.
The 41-year-old is acknowledged as one of the greatest hurlers ever to play the game, having enjoyed a successful career with the county.
He won five All-Ireland titles and nine All Star awards.
The former player's relationship with entrepreneur Sarah Newman ended recently.
She came to prominence as a panellist on the first RTE series of Dragon's Den in 2009.
