Public to help Garda in child abduction cases

Irish police are to launch a scheme to allow the public to help in the investigation of child abduction cases.

The Child Rescue Ireland Alert scheme will publicise information to help people identify an abducted child, as well as suspects or vehicles involved.

The public will be asked to feed that information back immediately to investigating officers.

The scheme will be launched by Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan later.
