Fire at Slane recycling facility

Firefighters have been tackling a major fire at a waste recycling plant in County Meath.

The fire, at the Panda facility on the outskirts of Slane on the N2 approach road into the town, was reported at 23:30 BST on Wednesday.

Motorists have been advised to take extra care, as the fire has spread smoke over a wide area.

It is understood that extensive damage has already been caused to the premises.

The company says it is the largest exporter of recycled material in the Republic of Ireland.
