Search resumes for missing man off Valentia Island, Kerry

A search operation for a man who went missing while fishing in County Kerry has resumed.

It is understood the man, who was with a group of people fishing at Culloo Rock on the north side of Valentia Island, fell into the water at 22:30 BST on Thursday.

Rescue helicopters from Shannon and Waterford are assisting the Valentia Lifeboat in the search.

The missing man is not believed to be from the area.

The location is popular for shore angling.

It is also dangerous - several people have lost their lives in the area over the years.
