Six die in road crashes in Irish Republic

Six people have died in separate road crashes in the Irish Republic since Sunday afternoon.

Two men died after the car they were travelling in struck a tree in the Hartstown area of Dublin on Monday morning.

In County Cavan, a man in his 50s died after the tractor he was driving overturned on the Cootehill to Mountain Lodge road on Sunday night.

A man in his 30s died after his motorbike was in collision with a car near Dripsey, which is 20km west of Cork city, on Sunday afternoon.

Elsewhere, two young sisters, two-year-old Kate Gilmore and her two-month-old sister Grace, died after being hit by a car near Tuam in County Galway, on Sunday afternoon.

They were walking with their father at the time of the incident. The driver of the car and their father were treated in hospital for minor injuries.
