Four face arms charges in Dublin court

Four people have appeared before the non-jury Special Criminal Court of the Irish Republic charged with possessing handguns and ammunition.

Three men and one woman were arrested as part of an investigation into dissident republicans near Tullamore in County Offaly three days ago.

Two of the men were also charged with membership of an illegal organisation.

None of the accused made any reply either upon arrest or when the charges were put to them.

Ursula Shannon, 28, of Inglewood Crescent, Clonsilla, Colin Brady, 23, of Baskin Lane, Kinsealy, John Troy, 33, of Dunard Avenue, Cabra and Johny Mc Greal of Palmer Road, Rush appeared before the court in Dublin on Thursday night.

Mr McGreal and Mr Troy were also charged with membership of an unlawful organisation.

They were all remanded in custody, with permission to apply for bail, to appear in front of the same court, which sits with three judges instead of a jury, on 6 December.
