Man, 42, arrested after fatal stabbing in north Dublin

A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in the Republic of Ireland.

He is being detained at Coolock Garda station in Dublin and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

The victim, 23-year-old Dean Fitzpatrick, was attacked and stabbed a number of times at Northern Cross on the Malahide Road in north Dublin at 23:20 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital but died a short time later.

Mr Fitzpatrick is the brother of missing Irish teenager Amy Fitzpatrick.

The 15-year-old went missing on New Year's Day 2008 after leaving a friend's house on the Costa Del Sol.
