Property tycoon faces charges over claims

An Irish property developer has been remanded in custody on charges relating to wasting police time.

Kevin McGeever, 68, was found on a country road in County Leitrim in February eight months after he was reported missing.

Police began an investigation into an allegation of false imprisonment.

Mr McGeever is charged with knowingly making false reports and statements regarding claims of false imprisonment, assault and threat to harm.

He appeared in court at Strokestown, County Roscommon.

The accused whose address was given as Nirvana, Ballywinna, Craughwell, County Galway, will appear in court again on Friday.
