The funeral for two young boys found dead in the boot of a car in County Mayo will take place on Friday.

A Mass for Eoghan Chada, 10, and his brother RuairĂ, 5, will be said in St Lazerian's Church, Ballinkillen, at 13:00 BST.

They will be buried in the adjoining cemetery.

Their father, Sanjeev Chada, 43, has been questioned about their deaths. It is understood he must be charged or released on Thursday.

He was discharged from Mayo Hospital on Wednesday and taken to Westport Garda Station.

Mr Chada sustained minor injuries when the car he was driving crashed into a wall at Rosbeg.

Police had earlier issued a child rescue alert seeking the public's help in finding the children. The alarm was raised at 01:30 BST on Sunday after they failed to return to the family home in Ballinkillen, County Carlow, with their father.

It is understood the boys had been dead for a number of hours prior to the crash.
