Rail travel including the Eurostar service to Britain has been temporarily halted from the Gare du Nord station in Paris after a fire.

The SNCF rail operator said vandals were responsible for the blaze at an electrical station.

It has urged passengers to seek alternative routes.

Gare du Nord is a key national and international hub, with trains departing to Brussels, Amsterdam and other European capitals.
