Guernsey parish nominations period closes

The nomination period for Guernsey's annual parish official elections has closed.

All 10 parishes are replacing constables and douzeniers, or a combination of both, with voting due to take place on 3 November.

Gerry Tattersall, senior constable in St Martin, said: "People don't seem to understand what goes on behind the scenes in running the parish.

"There's a lot of work but an awful lot of satisfaction."

He said: "It's wonderful to be able to give back to the parish what you get out of it.

"I'd recommend it to anybody and I only wish more people would get involved."
